长城 – How a wall can be great…

A wall does not always have a positive impression. But the name of the chinese one is definitely a spot landing: the Great Wall – 长城.

I mean, there is not exactly one piece of wall, but these artworks of defence in the mountains of China are as great as the name promises. Several parts of the Chinese Wall were built around 7 BC to defend the chinese empire. Keep this in mind and take the steps on the wall, up and down along the hilly dreamlike landscape.

Archaeological researches found out that the entire length of the different parts of the Chinese Wall was about 21 kilometres! Following pictures were taken on an amazing sunny thursday at Mutianyu, a 2.25 kilometre long section of the Great Wall, an one hour car trip from Beijing.
